Dream About Controlling Giant Gerbil
Analyze my dream

This dream was about

I had a very busy dream last night, but what stood out for me the most was how cluttered the house was because there were boxes and large things out of place all over the apartment. Towards the end of the dream I remember there were two little gerbils rolling around on the floor, and my friends were there, and I told them That those two gerbils belonged to my kids. Now my kids are adults, but I still call them kids. And I don’t like animals in the first place and I definitely don’t like rats and to me the gerbils are rats. So while we were talking about these little Rat, looking things, one of them started puffing up and it’s back was turned to me, but it started getting larger. And I said “is that thing getting bigger?” and my friend said yes! And it was growing really big muscles and it was getting really big and then it turned around and it’s snarled and growled, and it ran right at me! When it charged at me, I snatched it by the head and pulled its head back and turned it head around, almost twisting its head off. And I wasn’t so much afraid of it as I was controlling it, asserting my power over it, and then I noticed that it had a chain or a leash on it, and the leash was attached to the far wall and so It couldn’t get to me so then I really wasn’t worried about it. But then the leash snapped off and it charged at me again and this time it had a white man’s face and it picked up its fists and it charged at me and I grabbed its wrists and we were tustling, and I started shaking it and exerting my power over it and pushing it toward the door and it was dragging his feet, but I was pushing it in front of me toward the door and then his face broke and he started to whine and cry and he said “oh why are you doing this to me?” and he’s face softened and I said oh you’ve got to go and I was pushing him toward the door I definitely wasn’t afraid of them then. I should have been afraid of him the whole time, but I wasn’t and I was handling it, and I was exerting my power over him and I was shoving him toward the door and telling him you gotta go, even though he was very nearly almost as big as I was he had muscles way bigger than me, and he was very strong, he was still not as strong as me and I made sure he knew that and I pushed him toward the door, but before I could get all the way to the door. I woke up because my alarm went off. Now, what was the meaning of that dream?

Riki, your dream is rich with symbolism and speaks to a multitude of emotions and experiences you may be navigating in your waking life. The cluttered house represents feelings of chaos or disorder, perhaps reflecting your own internal state. This mess could symbolize unresolved issues or feelings that have accumulated over time. With the boxes and large things out of place, it suggests that there are aspects of your life that need to be organized or addressed, emotionally or physically. This clutter can also represent memories or experiences that you are still processing, especially given your long journey through grief as a widow. The presence of the gerbils is particularly striking. While you don’t have a fondness for animals, they symbolize something small and seemingly harmless at first. Your association of them with rats speaks to underlying feelings of discomfort or dislike towards certain aspects of your life. The fact that they belong to your 'kids', even though they are adults now, highlights a connection to your role as a caregiver and perhaps your ongoing feelings of attachment to them, regardless of their age. It signifies a desire to hold on to your children, which can be a natural reaction, especially after significant loss. The gerbils ultimately becoming aggressive and puffing up suggest that there are buried feelings or memories that might be more powerful and threatening than you initially perceive. Your act of controlling the gerbil as it becomes larger and more intimidating represents your struggle to assert your power over fears or challenges in your life. The imagery of twisting its head off is quite powerful; it signifies a desire to dominate or overcome the things that frighten you. The chain or leash attached to it indicates that these fears, although they may feel overwhelming, have limitations; they are not as insurmountable as they might first appear. When the leash snaps, it can symbolize a moment of loss of control, but your reaction shows an inner strength and the ability to confront what you fear. As you tussle with the figure that morphs from the gerbil into a man, it reflects the complexities of human relationships and interactions, perhaps pointing towards a confrontation with a part of yourself or a situation that feels uncomfortable. The man's transformation and his plea for understanding, "oh why are you doing this to me?" indicates a potential inner conflict or guilt you may feel in asserting yourself or taking control of a situation. You are pushing him away, which suggests a desire to establish boundaries and reclaim space in your life. Ultimately, the dream suggests a significant theme of empowerment. Despite feeling overwhelmed, you are navigating through your fears and asserting your strength over them. This could indicate a period of personal growth, where you are learning to embrace your power and resilience, even in the face of daunting challenges.
