Dream
I was in my house watching TV when all of a sudden my lamp light started to flicker and change colors. I started to feel an overwhelming sense of fear and dread. I knew it could just be a malfunction but my heart felt like it knew it was a ghost or something of that nature. I tried ignoring it at first, but I couldn't ignore feeling of fear creeping up on me and my heart pounding. The flickering started to get wilder, so I thought I'd try and threaten the ghost with sage, incense, and holy water. Though I'm not religious in the sense, I grew up as such, and now believe in spirits and the supernatural like I did when I was a kid, so my knowledge is a bit wide spread on the topic. Once I mentioned holy water, which I only have a small bottle of from my mom hidden somewhere in the boxes from moving, the light flickered even worse. I subconsciously knew I struck a nerve there, so I backed away slowly and went to my room to try and find that holy water bottle. Once I turned the corner to my room (which is finally set in my new house we moved into a few months ago), I saw a woman whom I do not recognize bent over my bed looking through something. I stopped dead in my tracks with wide eyes. She turned around eventually, started walking to me, glaced at my face for a second, then walked past me (or through me?) to the living room. I asked what she was doing here and if she was what was causing the light to flicker. She said "no, I came BECAUSE of the light". She then made symbols with her hands, like gang signs, and the light stopped flickering. I walked slowly towards her as I was amazed and also scared at this. Once the lamp was back to normal, the sense of fear and dread began to dwindle down. I was wondering why I felt so safe with this woman, and then I realized that she reminds me of a young version of my mom. The woman then hugged and puffed and walked to the kitchen. She started doing our dishes (which was filled up in the sink because I haven't had motivation nor do we have a dishwasher). I asked her what she was, like a ghost, demon, angel? Though this entire time she isn't one for eye contact and only glanced away from the floor for a split second every so often, she became visibly upset at this and I stepped back a bit. I said "I just want to know what to refer to you as if I need help again". She said "sigh, I'll be there if you need it. I can always tell." I then asked why she sounded so... Sad? Or upset? to help me, even though it was her idea. She said that she chose to do this as like a "job" however long ago and hasn't been able to change "career paths" as a supernatural being so she's stuck with helping those who need it, even though she's burnt out. This reminded me of my mom, as a lot of my childhood I knew she was burnt out but wanted me to be safe in life and actually did care about me, so she taught me ways to defend myself against supernatural beings such as malevolent ghosts, demons, djins, etc. Though I have forgotten a lot of what I was taught, I still text my mom every so often about the same things. This was also represented in my dream. This dream went on for a long time so I'm just going to shorten it to a small description: I kept doing things such as getting myself into trouble but each time I'd either get telepathically reminded on how to resolve the situation, or the strange woman would teleport to my location and solve it for me, then leave again. I tried calling out to this woman on multiple occasions, but it never worked, and she wouldn't show up until I was in grave danger. I learned the symbols she would use for certain situations but would mix it up a lot so I would use all of them until the right one worked (like spamming buttons on a game controller to hopefully win). She would roll her eyes at this, but looked semi-proud that I learned something I guess. Again, this woman didn't look like my mom in the slightest, but reminded me of her from her manerisms.
