Dream About Library Abuse Siblings
Analyze my dream

This dream was about

I was at the library with my estranged abusive dad and my siblings when they were 12 years younger. My ex stepmom wanted a library card and the kids got one. They were allowed to check out 3 books each. I had to jump thru hoops because I was an adult and they didn’t want me to have one. Then they gave me a temporary card but I I was only allowed to pick out two books but I couldn’t decide between three. So I hid one. To get out of the library you had to go in a room where you had to strip so they could search you for books. My siblings had no problem stripping and running thru the empty tinted glass room in the front of the library. I refused to strip because I was hiding the book. Then I hid the book elsewhere and refused to take my clothes off. The I humiliatedly started to take off my clothes and my siblings were blocking me in their underwear in my underwear because they were comfortable and I didn’t want to be seen and was embarrassed. I didn’t want to go down the stairs and into the big glass room. I was afraid I would be seen from the front desk. Then I decided I wasn’t going to go down the stairs into the tinted glass room. The librarians were yelling at me to come down the stairs and I to the room. I put my clothes back on and tried to run out with the 3 books telling them that it was unfair that just because my ex-stepmom didn’t like me and wanted to upset me. I fought physically with the librarians and security. When they grabbed me I was semi restrained and they took away one of my books and pushed me out the door. I was really upset because I felt I needed that book and couldn’t read the other without it. My dad came up the the outside of the library. I was crying. And we had to walk really far to get to a camper he never owned in real life. And we went thru bad neighborhoods. The camper was parked on a small steep hill in a driveway. That when you walked up was what looked like my dead grandmas front yard.

Abi, your dream presents a vivid tapestry woven with complex emotions and unresolved dynamics from your past. The library setting suggests a quest for knowledge or understanding, but the presence of your estranged father and siblings at a younger age might indicate a longing to reconcile with a time before relationships became strained. The struggle to obtain a library card, a symbol of access and acceptance, reflects the emotional barriers you face in seeking approval or belonging, particularly in relation to your familial ties. Your ex-stepmom's involvement and the preferential treatment towards your siblings could signify feelings of favoritism or exclusion you experienced in the family. The act of having to hide a book you couldn't decide on echoes the internal conflict of making choices under pressure, possibly mirroring real-life decisions where you feel torn or constrained by external expectations. The stripping process in the glass room represents vulnerability and exposure. While your siblings navigate this with ease, your reluctance suggests a deep-seated fear of judgment and being seen in your most vulnerable state. This may be tied to past experiences where you felt exposed or embarrassed, particularly in the eyes of family or authority figures, like the librarians who enforce the rules. The confrontation with the librarians and your subsequent escape attempt underscore a struggle against perceived unfairness and control. The book you fought to keep represents something essential to you, a piece of knowledge or understanding you feel is crucial for your personal journey. This reflects a broader theme of fighting for what you believe is rightfully yours, despite obstacles or opposition. Finally, the journey to the camper, through challenging neighborhoods to your grandmother's familiar yard, symbolizes a trek through difficult emotional landscapes towards a semblance of safety or nostalgia. This suggests a yearning to return to a place of comfort and security amidst familial chaos. The camper, something your father never owned, signifies an unfulfilled promise or a temporary refuge, hinting at the transient nature of the peace you seek. Your dream poignantly encapsulates the interplay of past trauma, familial dynamics, and the quest for personal identity and belonging.
