I was teaching at Nordhoff. My old classmates were there, but they had gone off to do something else. I was in Hoj’s classroom and was playing piano for a talented student who was singing. It was the last day of school. I saw some of my Redlands classmates and professors there too; specifically Angie Quigley and Melissa Tosh, but Tosh didn’t seem to recognize me. There was a football game going on across the street. We sat around and discussed geopolitics; one of the professors expressed her sadness over Gaza. Suddenly we leapt up as the football game ended and our school won 1-0. The scene shifted to the curve right before Black Mountain Ranch in Upper Ojai. The bridge was broken and there was a construction crew. My mom, my sister (who was a boy in this dream) and a tiny baby brother who could fit in my hand approached. My sibling almost fell down, but then the construction crew saved them. Suddenly they took off running and I knew they were trying to commit suicide. I tried to chase them, holding the baby so tightly in my hand I thought I’d killed it at some point until it began laughing. I think at one point I saw Ben Affleck jogging down the highway and asked if they’d seen my sibling. The dream ended with my sibling following a family into an orchard where there were several cops, and drew a gun, trying to commit suicide by cop. I wrestled the gun out of their hand and handed it to someone else, and everyone was trying to diffuse the situation until I woke up.
