Dream About Neighbor And Hidden Truths

I remember from my dream last night: It was a sunny day with big, fluffy clouds in the sky. I was walking in a familiar neighborhood, almost like where I live. I crossed through the neighbor’s yard to get to my house. The neighbor, a tall Caucasian man, was working on his truck and didn’t seem to mind my presence. His son, who looked to be in middle or high school, had just come home and seemed to be in a hurry to get inside, almost as if he was trying to avoid his father. I didn’t see a woman or mother, so it appeared to be just the two of them. I’m not sure what happened next, but for some reason, they came over to the house I was currently staying in, which felt like my mother’s house. My mom appeared from down the hallway, dressed in her pajamas. I started chatting with the neighbor and his son, who I sensed the father had forced to come along. Somehow, I ended up sitting at the dining table with the neighbor. The son looked very tired and seemed to exude a vibe of relief as if he felt safe enough to relax and take a break. He laid down on the couch and began to watch TV without asking for permission, and neither my mother nor I minded. The neighbor had a single beer with him, and I thought, “Why not join him?” I don’t drink beer often, but it felt like an okay decision at the moment, so I took one from the refrigerator. He got excited when he saw me join him. Then, my mom came out from the back after the neighbor said something I can’t quite remember. It was a word I had never heard before, but its meaning resonated with me: it described someone who is a burden, a nuisance, sickly, and unable to do anything for themselves. I brought it up to my mom, and she quickly reassured me, saying, “No, you are none of those things. You have always been protective, helpful, nurturing, and supportive.” Things seemed to be going well on the surface, and after I finished my beer with the neighbor, he went home. But then, instead of continuing the dream in first person, it shifted to a sort of observing mode, almost like I was watching a movie. I watched the neighbor as he returned to his home, and what I saw was horrific. He seemed to have a masterful ability to disguise himself, much like a character from a Sherlock Holmes movie who could change their appearance. As he revealed his true self, I realized that his skin was pulled from his forehead, his scalp was unnaturally positioned, and his hairline was far back on his head, marked with scars. His teeth were unhealthy, and when he pulled out his contacts, his eyes looked dead and hungry. He gave off a vibe of being a sociopath or a serial killer. The boy appeared to be extremely careful not to anger him, locking the door behind him and staying safe in his room. There were also images of bugs, like worms, maggots, and possibly roaches. I couldn’t tell if he was eating them or if they were simply in the house. All I know is that these disturbing images only appeared when I was viewing him at home, revealing his true nature. It left me creeped out. What could this all mean?
