Dream About Grey Dog And Wings
Analyze my dream

This dream was about

I dreamed I was at my place of work which is the University of Michigan. I was walking down a hallway and saw a large grey dog lying on the floor, perfectly still. Since it did not move, I assumed it was dead. I was sad and disturbed that this happened. A Professor with long grey hair in a ponytail and glasses came into the hallway. I could see onto his classroom that he was proctoring an exam. I pointed to the dog and told him it was dead. The professor walked to the dog and it got up and started walking around. I was happy and a little embarrassed, never thinking it could have been sleeping. I started to laugh and the professor said “Sssshhhh…” to quiet me down because his classroom needed silence. ThenI was lookin going into a large black box, symbolizing the deeds done in my life. The thought occurred to me that I will face God someday and give account for my deeds, sending me into a panic. Suddenly something from behind me wrapped wings around me. My focus was to whether the wings belonged to something good or evil. I could look down and notice the tips of the wings were similar to a dragonfly, transparent, and the structure/outline was dark grey. The being with the wings conveyed a message to me that it was there to comfort me and not be afraid. I told it I wanted to know exactly what it was, but it assured me that it meant no harm to me. The dream seemed to end at that point.

Shelley, your dream unfolds in a setting that is familiar and significant to you—the University of Michigan, a place that likely holds many memories and associations. The hallway where you find yourself is often a metaphor for a journey or path in life. It suggests that you are navigating through your own experiences, perhaps reflecting on your career and the impact you’ve made. The presence of the large grey dog lying still on the floor is particularly poignant. Initially perceived as dead, this dog symbolizes a part of you or your life that you might feel is stagnant or lifeless. Your sadness and disturbance indicate a deeper concern about loss—whether that be in relation to your professional life or perhaps a fear of unfulfilled potential. The fact that the dog eventually rises brings a sense of relief, suggesting that there are aspects within you that are not as dormant as they may seem, and that there is hope for rejuvenation and vitality. The professor, with his long grey hair and glasses, likely represents wisdom or guidance. His role as a proctor during an exam introduces the idea of evaluation and judgment, which resonates with your feelings of accountability that emerge later in the dream. When you inform him of the dog’s supposed death, it reveals your instinct to seek validation from authority figures in your life. The professor’s response, urging you to maintain silence, may reflect the societal expectations that you feel are imposed upon you, particularly in an academic environment.
