This dream was about

I have a reoccurring dream again when I turn 23. The dream that I was on my way to my grandmother's house for a family dinner. Except this time I was my actual age. We left at a usually early time to help clean, cook, set up the tables and in general spend time with each other. I'm in the backseat looking outside the window thinking about my life choices. My mom is driving my stepdad is in the passenger seat and my brother is next to me and they're all talking, just regular conversation to make the time go by. We get to my grandmother's and the people that I didn't recognize before that ended up being my step dad's family, I end up giving them a hug and a kiss before my mom, brother and stepfather get to them and all go inside. I get lost in the scenery because now instead of everything being sunny everything looks gloomy and none of the trees have leaves. I'm just sitting outside all alone wondering what happened for a split moment until my mom pops her head out the door and yells at me to come inside. We get inside and her dining room is the dining room setup from Eddie Murphy's movie The haunted Mansion. I go around giving everyone hugs and greetings and compliment my grandmother for her new dining room. She tells me how happy she is that I like it and that she dedicated the dining room to me. I tell her that I love it and appreciate what she's done to the place. Well I'm talking to my grandmother my uncle tabs me on the shoulder and tells me that it's time for dinner. Everyone is gathered at the dining table except the glasses of wine we're already in everyone's hand. I make my way to the head of the table and everyone is staring and waiting for me to make a toast for our happiness and prosperity. But I don't, I just hold up my glass and say "To family" everyone cheers to family then proceeds to drink their blood. I wait to drink mine until everyone is done. everyone finishes their drink and go straight to talking to one another and I noticed their eyes are making a reflective glow but I knew there were all vampires, I just wanted to really see for myself. After I accepted what they were I drink my blood. after I finish I sit down and look up to the ceiling that was about 25 ft above us with a giant chandelier. I look at the chandelier some more and noticed that every piece looks like teardrops. I get lost admiring the artwork of the chandelier then all of a sudden everything gets quiet. I look forward and everyone is staring at me. I start to get uncomfortable so I decided to go upstairs to my grandmother's bathroom with the mirror. I make it up the stairs and see myself in the reflection but this time I am my age and wearing a black goth Victorian dress, and I make a huge sigh relief. I turn around to overlooking my grandmother's front yard where my mom had parked and I everyone started to leave without me. I turned to my left to try to go downstairs but then I'm just faced with the brick wall. I turn back to the window but instead of panicking I just start crying. I'm getting left behind again. I hear whispers coming from behind me but I know that it's the shadow man trying to get my attention. ignore him and continue crying. this time the shadow man walks up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder to console me. at first I was irritated that he would touch me in my dream but instead of being a threat he wrapped his arms around me and hugged me while I was watching my family drive away without me. I Fall to my knees and pain of heartbreak The Shadow gets on their knees to try to hug me from behind again but then I start screaming with rage so hard that it cracked the bricks the glass of the window and the mirror. I'm still trapped it didn't do anything but I just finally accepted my pain. The shadow man tries to get me to stand so we can go through the mirror. I'm so crying but eventually gave up the resistance. While facing me the shadow holds his hand out again but this time I grab his arm and hold him close. We walked down the hallway to the bathroom door and he fixes the cracked surface. Once again he steps through, gets to the other side, and as soon as my hand touches the mirror I wake up

Alanna, Your recurring dream seems to be quite intense, carrying a deep emotional charge as reflected by the emotions level and your stated negative feelings. At the surface, the dream appears to revolve around themes of family, belonging, and acceptance, as well as more hidden feelings of alienation and transformation. The journey to your grandmother's house, a symbol of familial warmth and tradition, takes a turn towards the surreal, highlighting your current internal conflicts and emotional state. The gloomy scenery outside your grandmother's house and the leafless trees may signify a sense of loss or change in your life. This could be a reflection of the changes you've undergone as you've grown, representing a departure from the familiar warmth of family life as you knew it. The contrast between the lively dinner scene and the sudden transition to everyone becoming vampires could suggest feelings of being different or disconnected from those closest to you, despite surface-level acceptance and inclusion. Your transformation into a gothic Victorian figure in the mirror hints at a personal metamorphosis, a coming into your own identity that may not yet be fully recognized or embraced by your family or social circle. The shadow man's presence and his comforting embrace contrasts with the earlier part of the dream where familial connections seem to turn eerie. Here, the shadow may represent an aspect of your subconscious that's trying to guide and support you through emotional turmoil, even when you feel left behind or isolated. Considering your past life events, it's worth noting the significant upheaval you've experienced: being told at a young age that you were moving away from family, and later learning about your mother's divorce and the subsequent changes in your living situation. These events could be the root of the themes of abandonment and transformation we see in your dream. They may also be the source of the emotional intensity that manifests as the shadow man, the entity that offers solace when you feel most alone. Your dream's ending, where you're left behind as your family drives away, could be a replay of past fears of abandonment and a feeling of not being in control of your life's direction. The shadow man's attempt to lead you through the mirror may symbolize your desire for guidance and reassurance as you navigate your complex emotions and life transitions. Despite these challenges, the dream suggests an underlying strength in your character and a capacity to confront and accept your pain, as seen when you finally let down your guard and accept the shadow man's comfort. Although the dream ends on a note of acceptance, it's evident that there's a powerful emotional journey being processed. The recurring nature of this dream indicates these themes are important and persistent in your life. It's beneficial to reflect on the emotions and experiences the dream brings up for you, using them as a guide to better understand your feelings of belonging, transformation, and self-identity within the context of your family and personal history.
