Dream About Bruising And Unhelpful Nurse

The dream started in a college classroom where my old friend was there, constantly getting into trouble with the teacher. The teacher had a big project to hand out, but when it came to me, she couldn’t find my name. I kept repeating it, but on her list there were only similar spellings, never my actual name. She said I would have to start completely over, even though I’d been in the class a long time and she clearly knew who I was. Two or three people came up to my old friend, saying something secretive to him that I couldn’t hear. He mentioned how glad he was that I wasn’t dating my ex anymore (who was one of his best friends). I told him that I actually was, but my ex hadn’t told anyone because he had another girlfriend. After that, my old friend was kicked out of class, and I never saw him again. Then my hands started bruising up to my elbows, swelling three or four times their normal size, and the pain was overwhelming. (In real life, I woke up with my rheumatoid arthritis flaring and some swelling from edema.) I tried to find a nurse, which took forever. The campus looked more like an airport car rental center—there were rows of restaurants, travel companies, and insurance booths. I sampled food as I passed until I finally found the nurses. Suddenly, one of my best friends appeared, saying she always came to my appointments because I’d been going through so many. She helped explain my situation to the nurse, saying how I never get real help for it. But this nurse brushed me off with no real treatment. My friend got angry, raising her voice so everyone could hear how unhelpful and unprofessional the staff was. We left without me getting the care I needed, and the nurse was rude as we walked out. Then I woke up.
