Dream About Lightning And Storm

pages.dreamInterpretation.thisDreamWasAbout

I dreamt that I was struck by lightning as I was trying to run to my childhood home, knowing a big destructive storm was about to hit. The people (old neighbours) I had just been talking to were acting weird, like they knew something that I didn’t, and were being distant and evasive as I tried to have a normal, friendly interaction. Then the storm came up suddenly and everyone scattered, doors and windows were slammed all over the neighbourhood at once, as though orchestrated. I was left outside and had to run a few hundred metres to the shelter of my old home, as every other shelter was closed against me. It was like they all had warning this was about to happen, and to not give me shelter. As I ran, time seemed to slow around me and I heard a static-electric sound. I looked up and saw a bolt of lightning moving toward me in slow-motion. I changed directions several times, but it was always heading straight for me and I realised the futility of my maneuvers. I realised that this was my fate and that whatever path I took to avoid it would actually end up taking me directly to the point of contact. So I just ran in the direction of home as fast as I could. The bolt hit me from behind, but I felt only a slight sting as though it grazed my right temple. I didnt see if it continued on past my right shoulder to the ground, but I thought it must have as I felt amost nothing, just relief. Immediately after the strike, everyone came out of their homes, and authorities or scientists were suddenly there too. They were angry and frustrated that I had survived their test with no damage whatsover. I wasn't just unaffected, I actually felt a little more energised, like I'd been given power, but I didnt tell anyone that. I instinctively knew that this world was dangerous to me now, to keep it secret. Everyone was looking at me as though I were now terrifying to them. Once I woke up, I remembered that many years ago, when my grandmother was young, she and her brother were driving a cart home in a storm, and the bolt of lightning passed between them, hitting the ground behind the horse. And it passed over my grandmothers right shoulder, just like I thought it did in my dream!

Angie, your dream is rich with symbolism and emotional undertones that speak to your inner landscape. The act of being struck by lightning as you attempt to reach your childhood home suggests a powerful confrontation with your past. Lightning often represents sudden insight or transformation, and in your case, it seems to symbolize a pivotal moment of reckoning. Your childhood home, a place of nostalgia and foundational memories, acts as a beacon in the storm. The storm itself represents turmoil or chaos in your life, perhaps hinting at unresolved issues or fears that you have been grappling with. The urgency in your dream indicates a desire to return to a place of safety and comfort amidst uncertainty. The behavior of the old neighbors is particularly intriguing. Their evasiveness and distance reflect feelings of isolation or alienation you might be experiencing in your waking life. It’s as if they are privy to an unspoken truth that you are not, suggesting a fear of being misunderstood or excluded. This could relate to how you perceive your relationships with others—perhaps feeling like they see you differently now, or that there are barriers to genuine connection. The orchestrated slamming of doors and windows signifies a collective withdrawal, reinforcing your sense of being left outside, exposed to the impending storm. This collective behavior might echo your own feelings of being sidelined or unsupported in your current circumstances. As you find yourself running towards home, the sensation of time slowing down and the static sound adds a surreal quality to your experience. This could be indicative of a moment of clarity you’re striving for amidst chaos. Your realization that every attempt to evade the lightning only brings you closer to it can represent the inevitability of facing certain truths or challenges in your life. It highlights a profound acceptance of your fate, suggesting that you may need to confront certain aspects of yourself or your past, rather than avoid them. The slight sting you felt from the lightning, contrasting with the relief afterward, suggests that while confronting these truths may be uncomfortable, it ultimately leads to a sense of empowerment or clarity. The reaction of those around you after the lightning strike is telling. Their anger and frustration at your survival could symbolize societal expectations or pressures—perhaps you have faced criticism for your resilience or strength in the face of adversity.
