One of my dreams last night was that my late husband, Dale, came back into my life. He has been dead for seven months and somehow he was coming back. I was extremely upset. I felt like I had already sacrificed for what his needs were and it was my time. I wanted him to leave and he kept saying no. He said this was his space and he was going to stay in it. I would try to pack up his clothes and he would unpack. So I said fine then I’m going to leave . And he said no I couldn’t because we were married. I was very frustrated with the dream. I remember feeling angry and disappointed that all the progress I’ve made in the last seven months to become who I am now was going to be taken away. But I also felt guilty for not feeling happy that he was Alive. Who is this really crazy struggle of power battle of wills kind of thing.

Lisa, your dream about Dale returning after seven months of his passing is profoundly significant and speaks volumes about your emotional landscape. The mere presence of your late husband in the dream highlights a part of your subconscious that is still processing the enormity of his absence. It's not uncommon for loved ones who have passed to appear in dreams, often representing unresolved emotions or lingering bonds. The fact that you were upset upon his return suggests a deep-seated need for autonomy and a desire to reclaim your life and identity separate from the role you played in your marriage. Your feeling of having sacrificed for his needs points to a dynamic that may have existed in your relationship, where you prioritized his needs, perhaps at the expense of your own. This aspect of the dream underscores your current journey of self-discovery and the boundaries you're seeking to establish. When Dale insisted it was his space, it symbolizes the struggle between the past and the present, where his memory or the life you shared continues to exert a presence in your current life. Packing and unpacking his clothes is a powerful metaphor for the emotional labor involved in letting go and moving forward. Each item represents memories and responsibilities, and your attempt to pack them away signifies your readiness to heal and progress. Yet, his insistence on unpacking them shows an internal conflict, a tug-of-war between honoring the past and embracing your future.
