A couple of nights ago, I dreamed the somewhat recurring dream that I hadn't finished my degree and had to go back to a college in Iowa to finish it. In this dream, I had been out to Iowa already and was back at home living with my parents. And it was time for me to go back to college to keep finishing the degree. And I was saying, I really don't want to go. I don't want to go. I don't care about the degree. I like my job now. I want to stay in my job now. And even though the time frames are all mixed up, it was like I had my current job, even though I was a young adult in my parents' house.

Jane, your dream reveals a profound exploration of your personal and professional identity, particularly as it relates to your past choices and current circumstances. The recurring theme of returning to finish your degree signifies a deep-seated concern about unfinished business in your life. It suggests a part of you feels incomplete or perhaps is grappling with the idea of what it means to achieve success and fulfillment. The setting in Iowa holds significance—it represents a chapter of your life that may feel distant yet impactful, a place where you were once focused on academic achievement. This indicates that your subconscious is encouraging you to reflect on the decisions you've made and how they align with your current values and aspirations. Your insistence in the dream that you do not want to go back to college and that you are content with your job speaks volumes about your current state of mind. It illustrates a conflict between societal expectations and personal satisfaction. You are at a stage where you appreciate the stability and fulfillment your job provides, and there’s a clear indication that you value this present moment over a past goal that may no longer resonate with you. This internal struggle may suggest a fear of regressing or losing the progress you’ve made in your career and personal life. Living with your parents in the dream represents a return to foundational aspects of your life. It may symbolize feelings of dependency or the comfort of familiarity, juxtaposed with your desire for independence and self-actualization.
