Dream About Father Daughter Relationship

I just woke up from a nightmare. In the dream, someone was asking me about my daughter’s father—someone who’s been out of the picture since she was about a year old, maybe even longer. I was lying on the bottom bunk of a bunk bed, and my dad was lying nearby. The atmosphere felt dim and a little eerie. There was a TV on, playing some kind of romantic scene. Suddenly, my mom threw the covers at my dad and scolded him, saying something like, “Stop watching that,” even though he’s blind. Then someone asked me where my daughter’s dad was. I felt like I had just woken up, still lying down, and someone approached me. It seemed like it was my son’s face at first. They leaned in close and said something like, “I’m here, pretty one” or “chubby one,” smiling as they crawled under the bunk bed. The person looked like my daughter’s dad—a guy who used to be funny, though I don’t know much about him now. I clearly remember his smile. Then suddenly, he hit my teeth with his own—or maybe with something hard. I tasted blood, and when I touched my mouth, it felt like my front teeth—top and bottom—were either knocked out or had come loose like dentures. I could feel the blood and pain in my mouth. Someone else leaned in, and I reached out to touch their face, thinking it might be my son. I couldn’t see clearly, but I had the sense it was family. I felt stuck and unable to move.
