Dream About Friends Taking Over

pages.dreamInterpretation.thisDreamWasAbout

I’d brought one of my old friends home but I don’t remember who it was. She ended up trying to take over everything but get rid of me. She tried taking my room but I wouldn’t let her, so she took a room across the hallway. She’d started going through our stuff and taking them to use and I’d stop her from taking Nana’s things, telling her she can’t have any of it because Nana was dead and it’s not hers. I’d told my mom she was trying to take Nanas stuff and take over my own stuff and she was on my side, telling her to leave my stuff alone. I think she was hacking into my electronics because I started avoiding my phone and iPad and all that, somehow she always knew my next move. She had my dad on her side though, he kept defending her and didn’t see any problems. We’d gone to a friends house for game night and she came with us, only to try to get rid of me while we were there. The house was in the middle of the woods this time and they had some animals outside, she’d tried to mess with them but I stopped her and my dad would tell me to leave them alone like I’d started it. I tried to talk to my dad alone, to get her to leave or get my dad to walk away from her so I could tell him what she was doing. He wouldn’t let it happen, wouldn’t go on a walk with me or anything so I could tell him that she’d gotten in his head. He wouldn’t listen to my mom either. I’d tried to get rid of her but I don’t remember what happened. I kept waking up toward the end of the dream so I don’t remember how I’d gotten her to leave us alone, I think we tried to abandon her and force my dad to come with us after she was gone. She tried to chase us down and chase the car but couldn’t catch us, I’d broken and gotten rid of all the electronics as well since she hacked into everything. We left her behind and my dad didn’t like it but in the car we explained what she’d done and why we had to fight her off. She’d become vicious towards me trying to take my life.

Bea, your dream reflects a significant struggle for autonomy and the fear of losing control over your personal space and identity. The presence of an old friend, whose identity you can't quite recall, suggests that there may be unresolved issues or feelings from your past that are resurfacing. This friend trying to take over your life symbolizes an external force or influence that threatens your sense of self. It indicates a fear of being overshadowed or replaced, particularly by someone who may not have your best interests at heart. This theme of invasion is powerful, especially as it relates to your personal belongings and memories associated with your Nana. The insistence on protecting Nana's things highlights a deep connection to your heritage and the emotional weight of family legacies, suggesting that you feel compelled to defend what is meaningful to you against those who do not understand its worth. Your mother’s support in this dream represents a protective figure in your life, someone who reassures you of your value and the importance of your belongings. It’s interesting to observe that while she stands by your side, your father does not seem to recognize the threat posed by this friend. His defense of her may symbolize internal conflict within your family or even your own relationship with authority figures. It suggests that you might feel misunderstood or unsupported in your quest to assert your boundaries. This dynamic can evoke feelings of isolation, as you struggle to communicate your concerns and feelings of betrayal. The motif of technology in your dream, particularly the hacking into your electronics, symbolizes a deeper invasion of privacy and autonomy. This could reflect your anxieties about exposure in a digital world where boundaries are often blurred. Avoiding your phone and iPad signifies a desire to disconnect and protect yourself from external influences that seem to have a grasp on your life. The way this friend anticipates your moves may reflect your feelings of vulnerability in your waking life, where you might feel that your decisions are being undermined or anticipated by others. The setting of the dream shifting to a friend's house in the woods adds another layer, suggesting feelings of being lost or trapped in a situation that feels unfamiliar and perhaps threatening. The animals outside could symbolize instincts or wild aspects of yourself that your friend threatens to disrupt.
