Dream About Confronting Father And Hiding

I stood up to my father about my appearance. I confronted him about caring so much about my beauty, and instilling in me this belief that I have to let men touch me—it’s pointless to even say if I dislike their touch because they’re not going to listen to me anyway. In the dream I was yelling at him and shoving his hands off me but I knew he’d keep touching me anyway. I explained these things to him and “looked ugly” on purpose so he wouldn’t be distracted by my appearance. For much of the dream I was running from my family home through the neighborhood, it was sunny and green outside but all the houses were unfamiliar and the plant life looked strange, but not threateningly so. I knew he was chasing me so I was moving fast. Towards the end of the dream I was hiding from this young black woman who was searching for me, she had something to do with dad, and I hid in a bush successfully from her for a while. I was next to a slow-speaking young black woman who seemed tired and she was speaking to someone else, but I was silent because I was avoiding my pursuer. My pursuer had some of my sister Ruby’s traits but I don’t quite know who she was. She caught up to me and around that time I woke up. For part of the dream too I was taking videos of a large unknown family while they were outside singing in a park and I nearly tripped backwards on a grate but stayed upright. As I took pics and vids I was still aware of my dad watching me and yelled at him as I tried to do this activity. There was also something about traveling with a few people from my grad school cohort and being near a room that smelled bad, but I don’t remember much there.
